Pearey House Players- Youth Theatre for the visually impaired
9th March 2012

PHP is a new youth theatre solely for young visually impaired people living in Newcastle and Tyne and Wear.

PHP provides a supportive and safe environment for visually impaired young people to flourish, thrive and grow in confidence through the medium of dramatic and performance art.

PHP work as a group to create new pieces of drama. Incorporating speech, movement and music, we will guide the group to genuinely unique pieces of theatre about current issues, such as under age drinking, drug misuse and the economic crisis, from their own point of view.

It is a project that will introduce drama to their lives, encouraging creative development and giving them the opportunity to learn new skills.

PHP also provides an incredible social aspect in the young people’s lives giving an invaluable chance to get together with other visually impaired people and discuss their experiences of dealing with sight loss.

The youth theatre is free of charge to anyone registered blind or visually impaired between the age of 14 and 24, And is run from our base at Welfare Societys Pearey House in North Shields.

For more information regarding php contact Steven Milne-Artistic Director on peareyhouse2@hotmail.co.uk or at the office on 0191 257 43 88
